The "Scholars' Translation" of the Gospel of Thomas

These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomas recorded.

이것들은 살아계신 예수께서 이르셨던 비밀의 말씀들이며 ‘디두모’라 하는 유다 도마가 기록한 것이라.

1 

And he said, "Whoever discovers the interpretation of these sayings will not taste death."

그리고 그가 말씀하신지라. "누구든지 이 말씀들의 뜻을 깨닫는 자는 죽음을 맛보지 아니하리라."

2 

Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "찾는 자들은 발견할 때까지 찾기를 멈추지 말 것이라. 그들이 찾은 즉 근심하게 될 것이요, 근심한 즉 놀랄 것이며 또 모든 것 위에 군림하리라. 그리고 군림한 후에 그들이 쉬리라."

Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is within you and it is outside you.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "만약 너희 인도자들이 너희에게 말하길, '보라 아버지의 나라가 하늘에 있노라'고 한다면 공중의 새들이 너희를 앞설 것이요, 만일 그들이 너희에게 말하길, '아버지의 나라가 바다에 있노라'고 한다면 물고기들이 너희를 앞설 것이라. 차라리 그 나라는 너희 안에 있으며 또 너희 바깥에 있느니라."

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

"너희가 자신을 안즉 알려진 바 될 것이요 너희가 살아계신 아버지의 자녀임을 깨달으리라. 그러나 만약 너희가 자신을 모른다면 빈곤 가운데 사는 것이며 또 너희는 빈곤이니라."

Jesus said, "The person old in days won't hesitate to ask a little child seven days old about the place of life, and that person will live.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "많은 날들 가운데 늙은이는 일곱 날 된 아이에게 생명의 처소에 대하여 묻기를 주저하지 않을 것이고 그는 살게 되리라."

For many of the first will be last, and will become a single one."

"이는 처음 된 많은 이가 나중 될 것이며, 단 하나가 될 것임이라."

Jesus said, "Know what is in front of your face, and what is hidden from you will be disclosed to you.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "너희 면전에 있는 것을 알라. 그리하면 네게서 감추어진 것이 너희에게 드러나게 되리라."

For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. [And there is nothing buried that will not be raised."]

"이는 드러나지 않을 감추어진 것이 없음이며 또 일어서지 않을 장사(葬事)된 것이 없음이라."

His disciples asked him and said to him, "Do you want us to fast? How should we pray? Should we give to charity? What diet should we observe?"

그의 제자들이 그에게 묻고 말하기를, "당신은 우리가 금식하기를 원하시나이까? 어떻게 우리가 기도해야 하겠삽나이까? 우리가 자비를 베풀어야하나이까? 어떤 음식을 삼가 먹어야하겠나이까?"하더라.

Jesus said, "Don't lie, and don't do what you hate, because all things are disclosed before heaven. After all, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and there is nothing covered up that will remain undisclosed."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "거짓말하지 말라. 너희가 미워하는 일을 하지 말라. 이는 모든 것들이 천국 앞에서 드러나기 때문이니라. 결국 밝혀지지 않을 감추어진 것이 없으며 또 드러나지 않은 채로 남을 가리워진 것이 없도다."

Jesus said, "Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so that the lion becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and the lion still will become human."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "사람이 먹을 사자가 운 있도다. 이는 사자가 사람이 됨이라. 사자가 먹을 사람은 잘못되었도다. 이 또한 사자가 사람이 됨이라."

And he said, "The person is like a wise fisherman who cast his net into the sea and drew it up from the sea full of little fish. Among them the wise fisherman discovered a fine large fish. He threw all the little fish back into the sea, and easily chose the large fish. Anyone here with two good ears had better listen!"

그리고 그가 말씀하시되, "그 사람은 그의 그물을 바다에 던져 작은 물고기를 가득 잡아 바다에서 건져 올리는 지혜로운 어부 같도다. 그 지혜로운 어부는 그 가운데서 크고 좋은 물고기 한 마리를 찾아내고 모든 작은 물고기들을 바다에 되던져 넣고 쉽사리 그 큰 물고기를 선택하였느니라. 여기 좋은 두 귀 있는 자들은 들음이 나으리라!"

Jesus said, "Look, the sower went out, took a handful (of seeds), and scattered (them). Some fell on the road, and the birds came and gathered them. Others fell on rock, and they didn't take root in the soil and didn't produce heads of grain. Others fell on thorns, and they choked the seeds and worms ate them. And others fell on good soil, and it produced a good crop: it yielded sixty per measure and one hundred twenty per measure."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "보라, 씨 뿌리는 자가 한 주먹의 씨를 가지고 나가 뿌리매 어떤 것은 길 위에 떨어져 새들이 와서 그것들을 모았고 다른 것들은 돌 위에 덜어져 흙 속에 뿌리내리지 못한 고로 낱알들을 내지 못한지라. 어떤 것들은 가시떨기 위에 떨어져 가시들이 씨들의 자라는 기운을 막았느니라. 어떤 것들은 좋은 땅에 떨어지매 그것이 좋은 곡식을 내어 육십 배 또 백이십 배를 맺느니라."

Jesus said, "I have cast fire upon the world, and look, I'm guarding it until it blazes."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "나는 이 세상에 불을 던졌노라. 보라,
이것이 타오를 때까지 내가 지키고 있노라."

 

11 

Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "이 하늘은 없어질 것이요 또 그 위의 하늘도 없어질 것이라."

The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. During the days when you ate what is dead, you made it come alive. When you are in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?"

"죽은 자는 살지 아니하되 산 자는 죽지 아니하리라. 너희가 죽은 것을 먹던 그날들 동안 너희는 그것을 살게 했느니라. 너희가 빛 가운데 있을 때 무엇을 하겠느냐? 너희가 하나였던 그날에 너희는 둘이 되었노라. 그러나 너희가 둘이 된즉 무엇을 하겠느냐?"

The disciples said to Jesus, "We know that you are going to leave us. Who will be our leader?"

제자들이 예수께 이르되, "우리는 당신이 우리를 떠날 것을 아나이다. 누가 우리의 인도자가 되겠나이까?"

Jesus said to them, "No matter where you are you are to go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being."

예수께서 그들에게 말씀하시되, "너희가 어디에 있든지 너희는 의인 야고보에게 갈 것이니라. 이는 그를 위하여 하늘과 땅이 있게 되었음이라."

 

13 

Jesus said to his disciples, "Compare me to something and tell me what I am like."

예수께서 그의 제자들에게 이르시되, "나를 다른 것에 견주어보아라. 또 내가 무엇 같은지 말하라."

Simon Peter said to him, "You are like a just messenger."

시몬 베드로가 그에게 대답하되, "당신은 의로운 사자(使者) 같나이다."

Matthew said to him, "You are like a wise philosopher."

마태가 그에게 대답하되, "당신은 지혜로운 철인 같나이다."

Thomas said to him, "Teacher, my mouth is utterly unable to say what you are like."

도마가 그에게 대답하되, "선생이여, 제 입은 당신이 무엇과 같은지 전혀 말할 수 없나이다."

Jesus said, "I am not your teacher. Because you have drunk, you have become intoxicated from the bubbling spring that I have tended."

예수께서 말씀하시되, "나는 네 선생이 아니라. 이는 네가 취했고, 내가 지켜온 솟아나는 샘물로 네가 도취되었기 때문이니라."

And he took him, and withdrew, and spoke three sayings to him. When Thomas came back to his friends they asked him, "What did Jesus say to you?"

그리고 예수께서 도마를 데리고 물러나사 그에게 세 가지 말씀을 이르시니라. 도마가 그의 동료들에게 돌아왔을 때에 그들이 '예수께서 너에게 무엇을 말씀하셨는가'하고 물은지라.

Thomas said to them, "If I tell you one of the sayings he spoke to me, you will pick up rocks and stone me, and fire will come from the rocks and devour you."

도마가 그들에게 이르되, "만약 내게 이르신 것들 중 하나를 너희에게 말한다면, 너희들은 돌을 집어 나를 칠 것이라. 또 바위들에게서 불이 나와 너희를 삼키리라."

 

14 

Jesus said to them, "If you fast, you will bring sin upon yourselves, and if you pray, you will be condemned, and if you give to charity, you will harm your spirits.

예수께서 그들에게 말씀하신지라. "만약 너희가 금식한다면 너희 자신에게 죄를 불러 올 것이요, 만약 너희가 기도한다면 너희는 정죄 받을 것이요, 또 만약 너희가 자비를 베푼다면 너희 영혼에 해를 끼칠 것이라."

When you go into any region and walk about in the countryside, when people take you in, eat what they serve you and heal the sick among them.

"너희가 어떤 지방으로 가며 또 시골로 여행한 즉 사람들이 너희를 초대할 때에 그들이 대접하는 것을 먹을 것이요, 그들 가운데 병든 자를 치료하라."

After all, what goes into your mouth will not defile you; rather, it's what comes out of your mouth that will defile you."

결국 너희 입안으로 들어가는 것이 너희를 더럽히지 않겠고 오히려 너희 입에서 나오는 것이 너희를 더럽히리라.

 

15 

Jesus said, "When you see one who was not born of woman, fall on your faces and worship. That one is your Father."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "너희가 여자에게서 나지 않은 이를 볼 때에 너희의 머리를 조아리고 경배하라. 그는 너희 아버지시니라."

 

16 

Jesus said, "Perhaps people think that I have come to casy peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "아마도 사람들이 내가 세상에 평화를 주러 왔다고 생각하리라. 그들은 내가 이 땅에 불과 검과 전쟁이라는 분쟁을 주러왔음을 모르도다."

For there will be five in a house: there'll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone.

"이는 한 집에 다섯이 있음이니, 셋은 둘을 대적하겠고 둘은 셋을 대적하며 아버지는 아들을 또 아들은 아버지를 대적하리라. 그러고서 그들은 홀로 되리라."

Jesus said, "I will give you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched, what has not arisen in the human heart."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "나는 너희에게 어떤 눈도 보지 못했고 어떤 귀도 듣지 못했고 어떤 손도 만지지 못했으며 사람의 마음에 일어나지 않던 것을 주겠노라."

 

18 

The disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us, how will our end come?"

제자들이 예수께 묻되, "우리에게 말씀하소서. 우리의 종말은 어떻게 오겠삽나이까?"

Jesus said, "Have you found the beginning, then, that you are looking for the end? You see, the end will be where the beginning is.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "너희는 태초를 깨닫고서 종말을 찾고자 하느냐? 너희는 보라. 태초가 있는 곳에 종말이 있겠노라."

Congratulations to the one who stands at the beginning: that one will know the end and will not taste death."

"태초에 서있는 자는 복되도다. 그가 종말을 알 것이요 죽음을 맛보지 않으리라."

19 

Jesus said, "Congratulations to the one who came into being before coming into being. If you become my disciples and pay attention to my sayings, these stones will serve you.  For there are five trees in Paradise for you; they do not change, summer or winter, and their leaves do not fall. Whoever knows them will not taste death."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "존재하기 전에 존재하게 된 자는 복되도다. 만약 너희가 나의 제자가 되고 또 나의 말에 주의하면 이 돌들이 너희를 섬기리라. 이는 너희를 위하여 낙원에 다섯 나무들이 있음이라. 그것들은 여름이든 겨울이든 변치 않을 것이요, 또 그것들의 잎사귀들은 떨어지지 않을 것임이라. 그것들을 아는 누구든지 죽음을 맛보지 아니하리라."

20 

The disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us what Heaven's kingdom is like."

제자들이 예수께 묻되, "우리에게 말씀하소서. 천국은 무엇과 같나이까?"

 He said to them, It's like a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, but when it falls on prepared soil, it produces a large plant and becomes a shelter for birds of the sky.

그가 그들에게 이르시되, "천국은 겨자씨 하나와 같아 모든 씨 가운데 가장 작지만 그것이 떨어질 때 큰 나무로 자라나 공중의 새들의 보금자리가 되니라."

 

21 

Mary said to Jesus, "What are your disciples like?"

마리아가 예수께 물었다. "당신의 제자들은 무엇과 같나이까?"

He said, They are like little children living in a field that is not theirs. when the owners of the field come, they will say, "Give us back our field." They take off their clothes in front of them in order to give it back to them, and they return their field to them.

예수께서 대답하시기를, "그들은 자기 소유가 아닌 밭에서 거하는 어린아이들과 같도다. 그 밭의 주인들이 온 즉 말하기를 '우리에게 우리의 밭을 다오'하면 아이들은 그들 앞에서 밭을 돌려주기 위해 자기들의 옷가지를 벗느니라. 그리고 그들의 밭을 돌려주느니라."

For this reason I say, if the owners of a house know that a thief is coming, they will be on guard before the thief arrives and will not let the thief break into their house (their domain) and steal their possessions.

이런 연고로 내가 말하노니, "만일 한 집주인들이 도적이 올 것을 안다면 그들은 도적이 오기에 앞서 망을 보겠고 또 도둑으로 하여금 집안에 들어와 세간을 늑탈치 못하게 하리라."

As for you, then, be on guard against the world. Prepare yourselves with great strength, so the robbers can't find a way to get to you, for the trouble you expect will come.

그런즉 너희들은 세상에 대하여 망을 보라. 큰 힘으로 너희 자신을 준비시켜 약탈자들이 네게로 오는 길을 찾지 못하도록 하라. 이는 너희들이 예상하는 고난이 오겠음이라.

Let there be among you a person who understands.

너희 가운데 깨닫는 자가 있을지어다.

When the crop ripened, he came quickly carrying a sickle and harvested it. Anyone here with two good ears had better listen!

곡식이 익을 때 그가 낫을 들고 속히 와 이를 추수하였도다. 좋은 두 귀가 있는 누구든지 들음이 나으리라.

22 

Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his disciples, "These nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdom."

예수께서 젖먹이 아이들 몇을 보신지라. 그가 제자들에게 말씀하시되, "이 젖먹는 아이들은 그 나라에 들어가는 자들과 같도다."

They said to him, "Then shall we enter the kingdom as babies?"

제자들이 그에게 묻기를, "그렇다면 어린아이처럼 우리도 그 나라에 들어가겠나이까?"

Jesus said to them, "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter [the kingdom]."

예수께서 그들에게 이르시되, "너희가 둘을 하나로, 안을 바깥처럼, 바깥을 안처럼, 위를 아래처럼 만들고, 남자와 여자를 하나인 것으로 만들어 남자는 남자가 아니겠고 여자는 여자가 아닌 것으로 만들 때, 너희가 눈의 자리에 눈을, 손의 자리에 손을, 발의 자리에 발을 형상의 자리에 형상을 만들 때, 그 후에 너희가 그 나라에 들어가리라."

 

23 

Jesus said, "I shall choose you, one from a thousand and two from ten thousand, and they will stand as a single one."

예수께서 말씀하시되, "내가 천에 하나를, 만에 둘로 너희를 택하겠고 그들은 하나인 것으로서 서리라."

 

24 

His disciples said, "Show us the place where you are, for we must seek it."

그의 제자들이 묻기를, "당신이 계신 곳을 우리에게 보이소서. 이는 우리가 그곳을 찾아야하기 때문이니이다."

He said to them, "Anyone here with two ears had better listen! There is light within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world. If it does not shine, it is dark."

예수께서 그들에게 이르시되, "두 귀 있는 누구든 들음이 낳으리라! 빛의 사람 안에 빛이 있고 그것이 온 세상을 비추느니라. 만약 그것이 비추지 않는다면 그것은 흑암이니라."

25 

Jesus said, "Love your friends like your own soul, protect them like the pupil of your eye."

예수께서 가라사대, "너희 이웃들을 너희 영혼처럼 사랑하고 너희 눈동자처럼 그들을 안위하라."

 

26

Jesus said, "You see the sliver in your friend's eye, but you don't see the timber in your own eye. When you take the timber out of your own eye, then you will see well enough to remove the sliver from your friend's eye."

예수께서 가라사대, "너희는 너희 이웃의 눈 속에서 티끌을 보나 네 눈 속의 들보는 보지 못하는 도다. 너희 눈 속의 들보를 빼낼 때 그제야 너희 이웃의 눈 속에서 티끌을 제할 만큼 잘 보게 되리라."

 

27 

"If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the kingdom. If you do not observe the sabbath as a sabbath you will not see the Father."

"만약 너희가 세상으로부터 금식하지 않는다면 너희는 그 나라를 찾지 못하리라. 만약 너희가 안식일을 안식일로 지키지 않는다면 너희는 아버지를 보지 못하리라."

 

28 

Jesus said, "I took my stand in the midst of the world, and in flesh I appeared to them. I found them all drunk, and I did not find any of them thirsty. My soul ached for the children of humanity, because they are blind in their hearts and do not see, for they came into the world empty, and they also seek to depart from the world empty.

예수께서 말씀하시되, "나는 내 처소를 세상 한가운데로 가져왔고 또 육신으로 세상 사람들에게 보였느니라. 나는 그들이 모두 취함을 알았고 또 나는 그들 가운데 누구도 목마른 자를 발견하지 못했노라. 내 영혼이 뭇사람들의 자녀들로 아파하는 것은 그들이 마음속으로 장님이 되어 보지 못함이고 공허한 세상에 와서 공허한 세상으로부터 떠남을 또한 구하기 때문임이라."

But meanwhile they are drunk. When they shake off their wine, then they will change their ways."

"그러나 그 동안에 그들은 취해 있도다. 그들이 그들의 포도주를 떨쳐버릴 때 그들은 도를 바꾸리라."

29 

Jesus said, "If the flesh came into being because of spirit, that is a marvel, but if spirit came into being because of the body, that is a marvel of marvels.

예수께서 가라사대, "만약 영 때문에 육체가 있게 된다면 그것은 경이로다. 그러나 육체 때문에 영혼이 있게 된다면 그것은 경이 가운데 경이로다."

Yet I marvel at how this great wealth has come to dwell in this poverty."

"그럼에도 불구하고 나는 이런 곤핍 중 어찌 이렇게 큰 부요함이 거하게 되었는지 놀라워하노라."

30 

Jesus said, "Where there are three deities, they are divine. Where there are two or one, I am with that one."

예수께서 말씀하시되, "세 신위(神位)가 있으면 그들은 거룩하다. 둘 또는 하나가 있는 곳에 나는 그와 함께 있느니라."

31 

Jesus said, "No prophet is welcome on his home turf; doctors don't cure those who know them."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "어느 선지자도 그의 고향 잔디 위에서는 환영받지 못하며 의사들은 그들을 아는 자를 치료하지 못하니라."

 

32 

Jesus said, "A city built on a high hill and fortified cannot fall, nor can it be hidden."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "높은 언덕 위에 방비된 성읍은 무너지지 않거나 감추어지지 않느니라."

 

33 

Jesus said, "What you will hear in your ear, in the other ear proclaim from your rooftops.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "너희 귓속에 듣게 될 것을 너희 지붕에서 다른 귀들에게 선포하라."

After all, no one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, nor does one put it in a hidden place. Rather, one puts it on a lampstand so that all who come and go will see its light."

"결국 아무도 등잔을 켜서 바구니 아래 두지 않고, 감추어진 곳에 그것을 두지 않는다. 오히려 오가는 모두가 그 빛을 보도록 등대에 두느니라."

 

34 

Jesus said, "If a blind person leads a bind person, both of them will fall into a hole."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "만약 소경이 소경을 인도하면 둘 다 구덩이에 빠지리라."

 

35 

Jesus said, "One can't enter a strong person's house and take it by force without tying his hands. Then one can loot his house."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "사람이 강한 자의 손을 결박하지 않고서는 그의 집에 들어가 힘으로 그 집을 취할 수 없느니라. 결박하고서야 그의 집을 늑탈할 수 있느니라."

 

36

Jesus said, "Do not fret, from morning to evening and from evening to morning, [about your food--what you're going to eat, or about your clothing--] what you are going to wear. [You're much better than the lilies, which neither card nor spin.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "아침부터 저녁까지 또 저녁부터 아침까지 너희가 무엇을 먹을까하며 너희 식물에 대하여 염려하거나, 무엇을 입을까하며 너희 옷에 대하여 염려하지 말라. 너희는 길쌈도 아니하고 실 잣지도 아니하는 백합화들보다 더욱 귀하니라."

As for you, when you have no garment, what will you put on? Who might add to your stature? That very one will give you your garment.]"

"너희에게 있어서 의복이 없을 때 너희는 무엇을 입겠느냐. 누가 너희 키를 더하겠느냐. 바로 한 분만이 너에게 의복을 주시리라."

 

37 

His disciples said, "When will you appear to us, and when will we see you?"

그의 제자들이 묻기를, "언제 당신께서 우리에게 나타내실 것이며 언제 우리는 당신을 보리이까?"

Jesus said, "When you strip without being ashamed, and you take your clothes and put them under your feet like little children and trample then, then [you] will see the son of the living one and you will not be afraid."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "부끄럼 없이 너희가 벗고 또 어린아이들처럼 너희의 옷가지를 벗어서 너희 발아래 두어 밟게 된 즉 너희는 살아계신 분의 아들을 보며 너희들은 두려워하지 않으리라."

38 

Jesus said, "Often you have desired to hear these sayings that I am speaking to you, and you have no one else from whom to hear them. There will be days when you will seek me and you will not find me."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "가끔 너희가 내가 너희에게 말하는 이 말씀들을 듣고자 원하였도다. 그리고 너희들은 아무에게서도 그것들을 들을 수 없었느니라. 너희가 나를 찾아도 나를 발견치 못할 날이 오게 되리라."

39 

Jesus said, "The Pharisees and the scholars have taken the keys of knowledge and have hidden them. They have not entered nor have they allowed those who want to enter to do so.

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "바리새인들과 학자들이 지식의 열쇠들을 취하여 감추었느니라. 그들은 들어가지 못했으며 들어가기를 원하는 자들도 들어가도록 허용치 않느니라."

As for you, be as sly as snakes and as simple as doves."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "너희들은 뱀들처럼 간교하고 비둘기들처럼 순전하라."

40 

Jesus said, "A grapevine has been planted apart from the Father. Since it is not strong, it will be pulled up by its root and will perish."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "아버지로부터 떨어져 포도덩굴이 심겨졌으나 튼튼하지 못한 고로 뿌리째 뽑혀 말라죽으리라."

 

41 

Jesus said, "Whoever has something in hand will be given more, and whoever has nothing will be deprived of even the little they have."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "손에 가진 자는 더 받게 될 것이요 또 갖지 못한 자는 그 가진 적은 것마저도 빼앗기게 되리라."

Jesus said, "Be passersby."

예수께서 말씀하시니라. "나그네가 되라."

His disciples said to him, "Who are you to say these things to us?"

그의 제자들이 그에게 묻되, "이러한 것들을 우리에게 말씀하시는 당신은 누구시나이까?"

"You don't understand who I am from what I say to you.

"너희는 내가 너희에게 이르는 것으로부터 내가 누구인지 알지 못하도다."

Rather, you have become like the Judeans, for they love the tree but hate its fruit, or they love the fruit but hate the tree."

"오히려 너희는 유대사람과 같아졌으니 이는 그들이 나무는 사랑하되 그 열매는 미워하거나 열매는 사랑하되 나무를 미워함일러라."

Jesus said, "Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either on earth or in heaven." <
